The Schein model has garnered significant interest due to its effectiveness in supporting businesses that aim to understand and improve their culture (Coghlan, 2021).

An additional useful framework for understanding human behaviour in a business setting is provided by motivation theory. This area of research looks for the motivations and forces that influence people’s behaviour at work. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a well-known theory in this field that contends that people are motivated by a hierarchy of needs that moves from physiological needs to safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization (Coghlan, 2021). Maslow contends that in order to go on to the next level, people must first meet the needs at each one.

This model provides information about how an organisation can predict and comprehend the behaviour of its employees. An organisation may realise, for instance, that workers who are engaged and motivated more in a safe and stable work environment. On the other hand, disregarding workers’ basic needs may cause them to become less motivated and engaged (Coghlan, 2021).
