a)      where you consider something to be unethical (whether or not it is illegal

Upon discovering unethical behaviour within my team, specifically team member X taking undeserved credit for the work of team member Y, I swiftly took appropriate measures. I scheduled a private meeting with my supervisor to discuss the matter and provided a thorough explanation of the situation. I presented supporting documentation, such as project schedules, task lists, and email correspondence, to highlight the gravity of the misconduct.
During the meeting, I made sure to highlight the possible outcomes that could arise from such behaviour, specifically how it could impact the organization’s reputation, team unity, and individual morale. My goal was to encourage responsibility and proactive problem-solving by showcasing the concrete consequences of unethical behaviour through reab) where you believe something contravenes legislation.

b)     Where you believe something contravenes legislation

In the healthcare and social care sector, I encountered instances where employees were neglecting to take their scheduled breaks, which raised concerns about their well-being and compliance with regulations. Proactively, I raised this issue with my manager, highlighting the importance of adhering to “Rest breaks at work” regulations to ensure the health and safety of our staff.

During our discussion, I presented documented evidence of missed breaks to underscore the seriousness of the situation. I stressed that compliance with these regulations not only safeguards employee health but also mitigates legal risks for our organization. Furthermore, I emphasized the positive impact of regular breaks on employee satisfaction, morale, and productivity, underscoring the urgency for prompt action.

To enhance the specificity of our conversation, I suggested referencing relevant policies and guidelines from authoritative sources such as Gov.uk, which outline clear directives regarding break time regulations in healthcare and social care settings (CIPD, 2022).
